It has only been 6 years that I was first introduced to the whole dirt bike scene. It was something I decided to do to bond with my two boys after a divorce. They started out on a DRZ-110 and it wasn’t long after that they wanted something bigger and faster. I was hooked up with a TTR-125 electric start from Heath Voss to keep up with my boys. At the time Ryan, my oldest had no interest in racing. He just wanted to putt around with mom, so he decided to get an XR100. Justin on the other hand wanted to race so he ended up with a CR80. Within a few months and a few laps on Justin’s CR80, Ryan got the itch to race too, so one day we took a road trip up to Dallas and picked him up a CR85. Even I grew out of the TTR-125 and went from a CRF230F to A CRF250F. We rode at least 2 – 3 times a week. I was actually pretty good at the time. I was faster than my boys and I felt comfortable enough to enter a couple of Hare Scrambles.
Now that my riding has become little to non-existent, my bike is being sold and a camera is taking the place of my bike. You will still find me at the track, cheering my family and friends on at the races. More importantly, I hope I can capture some special memories for all of you.
Be safe and keep it fun!
